You buy like normal. We watch the prices.
Downtick turns a chore almost nobody does, checking whether a price dropped and asking for the difference, into something that just happens in the background.
- 1
Connect your orders
Most people connect Gmail. Downtick then searches for retailer order, shipping and refund emails and reads only those messages to find what you bought and what you paid. It is read-only, so Downtick can never send, change or delete anything, and you can disconnect at any time. If you would rather not connect Gmail, you can forward receipts to your Downtick address, use the browser helper, or paste an order in by hand. We never store passwords.
- 2
We match it to a real policy
Every order is checked against our store-by-store policy map. If the store honors adjustments, we lock onto the exact item and start the clock for that store's window. If it does not, we tell you plainly and never charge you to chase it.
- 3
We watch the price daily
We track the price on that exact item until the window closes. A drop of a few dollars or more inside the window is a claim.
- 4
We prepare the claim and hand you the exact ask
Downtick writes the request and tells you exactly what to ask for, in the channel that store actually uses. Today you send it. Working it with the store on your behalf, as your authorized representative, is what we are building next. Either way you keep 85% of anything recovered.
- 5
You get paid, then we take 15%
The refund lands on your original card. Only then do we charge our 15% fee, itemized. No refund, no fee. If the store reverses the refund, we reverse the fee.
You buy a stand mixer at Costco for $429.99. Nine days later Costco drops it to $379.99. That is inside Costco's 30-day window, so Downtick tells you, with the policy and the exact wording. If Costco grants it, $50.00 goes back to your card. We then charge $7.50. You keep $42.50 you would never have chased yourself.
